On Friday the 27th of September we held our annual Pyrenees Magic Bike Ride beginning at Summerfield Winery. We had near perfect conditions for the riders with 80 riders attending the event. The ride will also take place again in March next year around the 30th March 2025 and we hope everyone who attended will attend again and bring some friends along to enjoy the unique experience of the Pyrenees ranges have to offer. The ride is made up of 3 courses. 96km ride which is well suited to our experienced riders. 53km ride which is great for our intermediate riders and if you want to have a nice day out and would like to take up cycling as a beginner the short course which is 33km is perfect.

We thank the project organiser Brian Reed and his committed team consisting of Anthony Ohlsen, Max Berry, Shane Dellavedova, Lowan Clarke and Adrian Masterman-Smith for putting on a great event and to the many volunteers and marshall's on the day. From the event we managed to raise $2044 dollars which will go torwards local projects such as providing scholarships to both Maryborough Education Centre and Highview College students that align with the Rotary Four Way Test, Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? - to hopefully encourage young people to continue to be upstanding citizens in our community and be positive community builders. Funds will also be put towards other projects such as a small subsidy towards a successful applicant in the National Youth Science Forum from Highview College as well as other small projects that may arise over the year. We will also be donating a small amount to an International project in Ambon led by Wendouree Breakfast Rotary Club, which we were lucky enough to have Rob McDougall share their story of Ambon and the work they do to make a difference in the lives of children in the area and Australia's unique connection with Ambon. Lastly we would also like to thank Summerfield Winery for donating 2 bottles of wine and the use of facilities for the day and also Craig Tranter who has for some years donated the use of a portable toilet for the event. We much appreciate the continued support of both these local businesses and hope you all will pay it forward and support both Summerfield Winery and Craig Tranter.
