Last Meeting: From Little Things, Big Things Grow.
This is a nice title for a song, and this is what we seem to be achieving with our Rotary Vocational Scholarship.
Ms Eva Julian who was awarded our inaugural Pride of Workmanship scholarship, addressed us prior to her leaving for the International Conference in San Diego where she will further her project which she calls “Value in Children - Value in Community.” Eva is Well-being and Engagement specialist at MEC and will attend the conference seeking to develop a consistent set of language for all levels of the school. She will develop a set of expectations for staff and students and a series of Mantra, (I liked her reference to “walking feet”!) to encourage appropriate behaviours throughout the school community. This will encompass, Achievement, Respect, Enjoyment, Exclusion, Safety, Study Skills and Social Skills. Through workshops and further parent engagement, Eva expects that her process will spread beyond the school environment into the community.
We are proud of where our Rotary initiative has reached so far, and we look forward to watching it, and Eva's project, grow and develop.
