On Thursday, March 10, around twenty members enjoyed a presentation by the incoming CEO of Havilah, Craig Young. Craig provided members with a fascinating outline of his early life, an overview of his adult working life and previous appointments - including some highly engaging stories, and shared his previous Rotary experiences.
Craig's parents hailed from Regional Victoria, but Craig grew up and went to school in Coburg. After Coburg High School, he studied at R.M.I.T. where he obtained a Bachelor of Business (Accounting). As a young man, he used his Accounting skills in London for a period, and particularly enjoyed opportunities to watch the tennis at Wimbledon. He was then appointed as the CEO of an American Software company which had its head office in Arizona where Craig particularly enjoyed the dark read vistas around the city of Sedona. After the birth of his daughter, Alicia, who became seriously ill as a baby, Craig took a break from full time work, but got a part time job at a Florist. He then spent time working in local Government where he developed a passion for community involvement. In more recent years, he has been appointed to the Boards of a number of Not For Profit organizations. All of this experience has placed him in a great position to take on the task of being just the second CEO of Havilah, after Barb Duffin. Craig's Rotary experiences began after he met a Rotarian from Kew at a special birthday party held for Craig's mother. He joined the Kew Rotary club, and later moved to the Rotary Club of Mount Martha. He is looking forward to working in Maryborough and has already struck up a friendship with our current President because Craig is a one-eyed Carlton supporter after his Grandfather played with the Blues.
