On May 21st, as part of Rotary's Youth month (May), members watched a talk from the November 2025 Shoulder to Shoulder Youth Conference in the USA. The speaker was Mike Johnston, the current Mayor of Denver, Colorado who has, in just 18 months in the office, halved the very high homelessness rate in that city. Mike uses three principles for tackling social issues: (1) Understand the problem by getting to know the people who are suffering; (2) Believe you can achieve difficult challenges; and (3) Be prepared to fall (and get back up).
