HAPPY BIRTHDAY DISTRICT GOVERNOR JANE

On Thursday we were lucky enough to welcome District Governor Jane to our Club for her Official visit. She was unaware that we knew it was her birthday so we planned a surprise for her. A Cake with a marine theme keeping in with her theme for the District conference on March next year.

DG Jane congratulated the club on the new members that we have inducted thus far this year.  She was very interested in the #SayNo2familyviolence Campaign with a view to pursue sending information out to the District, possibly rolling it out to the other clubs.
The Surabaya project caught her interest as well.

Jane encouraged us to make The Rotary Foundation our charity of choice, and to consider leaving a bequest in our wills. This is the base of where all the grants come from for the projects Rotary Clubs choose to do. While the actual donations are left untouched it is the interest earned that is available for clubs to apply for.

We are also encouraged to "Set Sail for Geelong" in March next year to attend the annual District conference which promises to be loads of fun with great speakers and a chance to mingle with other Rotarians, some whom we rarely see as we are all busy. This year we will be looking for a good showing of club members to attend the conference. After all we all know how much work goes into the planning of one of these things. So please consider attending.
