M/s Deborah Pell, a volunteer in the White Lion Mentoring program at Bendigo, spoke of her commitment to the Program.
The Mentors set out to provide role models for young people who had been referred to them from a range of organisations, such as Child Protection, Youth Justice, foster homes, Wards of the State, etc.
Sometimes entry into the program reflected very limited choices for the "Young Person", but often became life changing for both parties.
Deborah spoke of helping kids with driving lessons, Centrelink appointments, family activity days, (the group tends to become the Family), and presentation.
Just a coffee together; just to be there; just to be your word; just to be non-judgemental; just to be unshockable seem to be the fundumentals of her involvement.
Deborah would welcome any interest in being part of this very worthwhile organisation. www.whitelion.org.au
