USA Travellers
Saturday 21: We've arrived safely here in San Francisco and already had a tour to the lookout hill at Twin Peaks and a drive through the area that was frequented by the hippy culture during the 60s. It's now a very fashionable place with all the houses done up very artistically and worth from 1 to 2 million dollars each! The temperature is a much more pleasant 65 and around 55 up on Twin Peaks. This morning we passed through Sacramento, which I didn't realize, is the capital of California. It's also a pretty place, but SF is quite striking. Only 600,000 or so in the city but the houses are packed really tight like European cities so you can actually walk around the city - if you have a mind to!
Sunday 22: We toured t to a winery region over the Golden Gate Bridge and then came back to the Sousalito dock area ,where there are many yachts and hundred of shops and much merriment
Monday 23: Today we went to Alcatraz and toured the whole complex – quite fascinating and enlightening. We also did a bay cruise underneath the Golden Gate and around Alcatraz - probably unnecessary, but a very pleasant way to spend an hour. And the weather was a wonderful 70 degrees - enough to redden my face, because I forgot the sunscreen!
