Terry Welch CEO Maryborough & District Health Services

Terry thanked Anthony Ohlsen and Matt Broad for the invitation to speak to Maryborough Rotary. He is a qualified nurse who rose through the ranks. Terry gave a lot of stats for the hospital including 100 babies last year, sometimes for specialist deliveries they go to Ballarat but they "come back because its like a private hospital with the level of care and comfort" . He is committed to Maryborough through the hospital which has its own oncology service here (even if it is under utilised), a wellness centre that took longer to build than expected because they "wanted to get it just right". A 93 bed aged care section is included under the hospital umbrella. Bryce asked about The Manse and its use, Terry said the hospital was very impressed as were those who availed themselves to use it, saying it was a great asset that had "strong accommodation numbers and excellent feedback"
Whilst Delta Dogs are not yet used in the wellness centre he will be looking into it, a valuable service for those who are ill.
A great talk with too much information to fit in here, to listen to our great speakers come along to our meetings, our door is always open.
