Over 70 people gathered at the town hall on New Year's Eve to "Rock the Foundation". Everyone enjoyed dance music classics from the 50's to 70's whilst raising over $1000 for Rotary's own charity, the Rotary Foundation. Our thanks must go to Meryl James for handling most of the organization, to Parkview Bakery for supplying most of the food at cost price, to members of Seriously Sixties for playing at no, or reduced cost, to Thea, Priceline and Meryl for raffle prizes, to Havilah for supplying cutlery and to Rotarians Esther and Karen for serving tables, to Peter (and Bronwyn) for managing the door, to Derrick, Martin and Karen for Cooking, to Esther and Karen for managing the kitchen, and Derrick, Karen, Esther, Rodney (and Sue), Martin, Garry, Shane (and Jackie), Thea and Terry, Meryl and Geoff for assistance in setting up and/or cleaning up on Saturday and Sunday. Thanks also to those who attended and organized groups for tables. With another 30 people, we would have raised an extra $1000, so there is talk that we might do this event again next year and aim for 100.
