President's Message
Hi Rotarians,
This week we will have PDG Ted Gaffney speaking on Rotary Planned Giving and other Rotary information, including the Rotary Foundation. Chair for the evening will be PP Geoff James DGE.
Please support this evening and if you have not already advised Derrick of your intentions, please do so.
Strategic Planning session: Sunday 26th May 8.30 am - 1pm at The Hub. Development of this plan was the impetus for our Clubs resurgence this year. We have sent out a copy of the Plan to ensure everyone is on the same sheet. We need to review the Plan and make changes if necessary. It is a whole Club activity and input from new members is highly desirable.
Another week down. This is currently a quiet time for Rotary, but we can reflect on a busy year, with more to come in the coming Rotary Year.
Last week’s speaker was Ms Eva Julian, who was the inaugural winner of our Pride of Workmanship scholarship, sponsored by the club in 2012.
The success of this venture by our Club was justified, as we heard her speak, by what she learnt and how she proposes to use her newly gained knowledge. We will obviously continue with this venture in 2013.
Ray Hannan is collecting names of interested Rotarians to perform Rotary service overseas. If you are interested, please speak with him.
Our intrepid cyclists, which included some of our members, have completed their epic Maryborough Victoria to Maryborough Queensland ride to publicise and collect donations for Alzheimer’s Research. The sum of around $23000 was raised. Well done all!
Anyone wishing to make a donation or read the blog can still do so at
(Note that this is the corrected web address.)
Terry visited 2 Rotary Clubs in NSW and both gave generously.
Following our successful meeting with MEC, PE Garry and I met with Jenny Wardrop, Principal of Highview College this week. Hopefully this will further the strong relations we have with the education sector of our community.
Board members and Committee Chairs, please begin your annual report for the Club annual report.
Changeover Dinner is at the Highland Society on Saturday June 22nd. Cost $40pp. Invitations will be sent this week. Partners of course are invited.
Enjoy Rotary.
President Bob
