Meeting Two - Reports from Standing Committees
Four reports were presented by Standing Committees last Thursday.
International: (Martin) It is planned that we fund two shelter boxes during this year, continue with the Dinka books program, and work with other Group 7 clubs to fund a joint overseas project. The group would also like to sell our collection of pavers including payment for a loading fee that would go to our overseas project.
Youth: (Shane) Our main youth project is our RYPEN camp down at Adekate. The program is being handled by Thea and Rodney. The Youth group has also arranged for someone from St. Augustine's school to come and talk to the club on literacy issues during this Literacy month.
Vocational: (Graeme) Since the DG will be visiting in October, we plan to postpone our Vocational awards until Novemeber. The area is likely to be Preschool education and care.
Membership: (Brian) Our club wants to establish a register of new businesses in the town so we can contact possible members. Please email details to Brian. We want every member to try to introduce at least one prospective new member to the club this year - particularly females and young adults .
President John thanked all Directors for the great ideas and work in getting the year off to a flying start.
