Musicians Faye White and Phil Millguard, (with a wondrous introduction by Guy Blanch) reported on the very successful circus skills and singing programs at MEC. Year 6 students were thoroughly engaged by the 5 week program, culminating in a concert last Thursday evening.
Guy remarked on the ability of kids to rise above small hiccups in their performance and continue “On with the Show.” Faye reported huge advances with confidence, concentration, coordination, kinaesthetic, cooperation and motivation, especially with students with excess energy or a degree of disassociation. Singing added to the experience and Phil invited everyone to “...unwrap the gift...” they received at birth – that is the gift of being able to sing – rather than wondering at age 80, what it would have been like.
The Club made a major financial contribution to this program and this was greatly appreciated.
