Eva Julien - Our Jet Setter Returns
Eva Julian, our first Pride of Workmanship scholarship winner, spoke to us last week about her wonderful trip to San Diego.
The international conference was on Positive Behaviour Support. Eve met some of the 3000 participants, who had come from UK, Sweden, NZ and South America. Sessions were attended by about 150-200 people.
Eva reports that similar behavioural problems exist throughout the world!
The recurring message across all five days was: consistency in all areas; routine; predictable; be explicit – teach the kids and adults what to do and being pro-active not reactive.
Eva said this was the most inspirational conference she had ever attended. She reported that she is amazed by what is happening back here, in our community.
In three years Maryborough has achieved more than some schools have in 10 years.
They have a working policy on mobile phones and uniforms, and many participants were really impressed, as they seem to be getting nowhere.
Eva thanked the Rotary Club for the wonderful opportunity afforded her by the scholarship.
