Esther's Journey

Esther Waters’ journey was even more peripatetic. Born in Germany with Hungarian parents, they arrived in Australia as displaced persons and enthusiastically embraced Australia and its culture and its lack of austerity! Esther survived a convent school education and forged a career in retail and fashion and Human Resources. HR became very important with the various mergers and takeovers in the insurance and finance industries of the 80’s and 90’s and clearly Esther has grown with the profession.
With husband David, Esther moved from the sub tropical north, after their three children had flown the nest, to cooler Talbot, seven years ago. Esther fleshes out retirement by growing fruit, making jams (like her grandfather ) and raising funds for MEC Chaplaincy.
With her colourful (neapolitan?) heritage, Esther has recently embarked on a study of her genes. She spoke of mitochondrial DNA and rattled off a number of ancient European Royals with whom she claimed connection. As I recall, Ester, there were some Europeans with rather less to commend them. Any connection there?
All in all, one of the most interesting meetings that we have had.
