Rotarian Max interviewed PDG Anthony about his Vocational Classification at Thursday's meeting and members discovered that Anthony's vocational journey initially revolved around civil engineering. Anthony's first employer was the late PP Jeff Mackay - father of PP Martin, and he first employed Anthony and Martin to work for the Maryborough Shire in 1974. Anthony's job was to be one of only two active engineers in the town at the time - the other one being his employer, Jeff Mackay. See "Read more..."Before being employed, Anthony and PP Mallee Rowe were actually two of the first four students to complete the new, at the time, Level 13 at the Technical College which was a preparatory year for Engineering. The two of them then studied their second year of Engineering in Bendigo - the last students to do that course there. Anthony explained that engineering involves quite a bit of survey work, the establishment of accurate levels and grades and the development of technical drawings for each project. In his early days, much of his work was completed at the new Sewerage farm and water treatment plant.
