New Advertiser Editor, Angela Tucker shared her story at our club meeting last Thursday. She is currently editor of our local newspaper and has three other journalists on her staff - all under 25. Angela says her job has been a challenge, especially the proof reading, but she loves it. She comes to the position after a University course in Journalism, and some experience at the "Courier". She mentioned that whilst circulation numbers have dropped considerably for many newspapers, the Maryborough Advertiser has maintained its numbers because of its loyal following. Our paper still lays out pages by hand (instead of on computer), but the company is gradually trying to develop its online presence. She added that many newspapers break their stories online first, and will only add them to the paper one or two weeks later. In Maryborough, it goes to the paper first.
