Club Members who have not given notice of their inability to attend the meeting are expected to pay the cost of the dinner being $20.  Members can pay by cash or EFTpos at the fellowship table on arrival or online to Maryborough Rotary.
Have you thought about prepaying a block of meeting fees online?  Club Treasurer Peter Haywood would be interested in hearing from members who would like to adopt this method.

Each week four Club Members are rostered for Fellowship to assist in greeting attendees, collecting monies, managing the drinks table and putting away meeting items. If you are rostered and unable to attend the meeting, please arrange a replacement.

Riseley's Remarkables Ramblings

The bike ride on Sunday was a success despite winds and smoke pushing riders around.

79 riders participated in the challenging two events.

The return bike ride to Taste of Talbot and the Gold Rush Shire circuit were both events that pushed the riders, some close to their limits.

The riders were enthusiastic on completion of their events and enjoyed the refreshments supplied by members of Maryborough Rotary.

Groups of riders could be seen animatedly discussing their rides with each other while relaxing post race. Rotarian David Hare amongst them.

Rotarian Peter Haywood who organised the event and the other club members who helped run the event are to be congratulated and thanked for their efforts.

On the Thursday Rotarians helped out with the Hole in One event at the Golf Day breakfast, officiated at the Dunolly Probus AGM and changeover.

We also conducted a very successful local student LIFT program and had a challenging dinner meeting. Through all these things Rotarians carried the flag high.

The club is setting up for the challenges ahead with MD PETs this weekend and the District conference two weeks later.

Last night the Conference committee bevered away organising the 2019 District Conference to be held in Maryborough in March 2019.

If you have not got a role in the club next year talk to Meryl James President Elect regarding club positions still available. Involvement is its own reward.

See you all on Thursday night.

Central Goldfields Shire Council - The Hon Hugh Delahunty
On Thursday night we welcomed our guest speaker - The Hon Hugh Delahunty one of the three Administrator's appointed to Central Goldfield's Shire Council in December 2017.  Hugh told us his employment career and then told us details of the people recently appointed to the Shire.  Noel Harvey OAM (Chair), Karen Douglas and Hugh were appointed in December 2017 when the previous Councilors and Mayor were removed. Lucy Roffey has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer on the 5th March, 2018. There will be three General Manager's positions advertised in the near future.  Hugh also informed Rotarians about the Shire's Vision for the Community and encouraged input into the Community Development Plan when the opportunity arises.  Hugh in his time here has already observed both civic and personal pride in the town.
Gold Rush and Taste of Talbot Cycle Event
Congratulations Peter Haywood and his band of volunteers for the excellent efforts to run the Gold Rush (115km) and Taste of Talbot (42km) cycling rides on Sunday 18th March.  Approximately 79 riders participated in the event in very trying conditions at times with wind gusts, dust storms and spots of rain.  It was a credit to the riders who took part and finished the event.  The first rider back from the long ride took just under 4 hours starting at 9.00am and finishing at 12.57pm.  A great effort.  Thank you to all who supported Peter for the event and to Peter and his wife Bronwen for their organisation and hours of preparation.
Student LIFT program
A very successful student LIFT program was held on Thursday 15th March at the Community Hub.  There were 15 students from Maryborough Education Centre and 10 from Highview.  The students were involved in sessions regarding leadership skills, communication, public speaking and life skills. There will be more photos and a story to come in a future bulletin.
#SayNO2familyviolence update
