Club Members who have not given notice of their inability to attend the meeting are expected to pay the cost of the dinner being $20.  Members can pay by cash or EFTpos at the fellowship table on arrival or online to Maryborough Rotary.
Have you thought about prepaying a block of meeting fees online?  Club Treasurer Peter Haywood would be interested in hearing from members who would like to adopt this method.

Each week four Club Members are rostered for Fellowship to assist in greeting attendees, collecting monies, managing the drinks table and putting away meeting items. If you are rostered and unable to attend the meeting, please arrange a replacement.

 Riseley's Remarkables Ramblings
While trawling through emails I came across an update on Polio. After listening to a career Soldier on Australia Day who has been to places like Afghanistan one starts to appreciate why the numbers are going down slowly, but at least they are going down.
With 22 confirmed cases in 2017 to date, and just one case in 2018, the world is on the brink of eradicating polio, a vaccine-preventable disease that once paralyzed hundreds of thousands of children each year.

Rotary is giving $53.5 million in grants to support immunization and surveillance activities led by the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI).

Meanwhile we are at the end of another month, so we start a New Rotary month on Feb 1st, Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution Month.

Thank you

Celebrating the local Australia Day Service

What a sensational day weather wise for the local Central Goldfields Shire Council Australia Day Service.  After some very hot conditions in the days leading up to the day the weather was extremely pleasant for the breakfast.  The local Lions Club cooked up a storm on the BBQ whilst the Rotarians cooked several hundred pancakes.  Special thank you to Robyn Jennings and Derrick Marsden for the magnificent effort to cook so many pancakes.  Of course the pancakes were cooked to perfection because of the magnificent mixing of the batter by Harold Breitinger,  Murray Henderson and Graeme Rogan. All of these gentleman did their special part in the mixing process to ensure just the right consistency.  All Rotarians in attendance enjoyed the morning and it was a pleasure to see so many people to enjoy the service.
Congratulations to the many award recipients in particular;
Joint Citizen of the Year winners - Dan and Dianne Mullins
Community Activity of the Year - Street Harvest Program
Young Citizen of the Year - Rohan Mackay
and finally
Annie, Christopher and Lian Marquez (originally from the Philippines) were made Australian citizens.
NYSF 2018 Presentation by Maggie Tranter

As previously mentioned; Maggie Tranter is booked in on the 1st February to do her presentation on her experiences at the 2018 NYSF in Canberra.

Based on chats and emails received from Maggie, it will be a brilliant session and will once again, go a long way in highlighting to members and guests, the important role that Rotary plays in facilitating these sorts of experiences for our young adults to be.

It would not happen otherwise and the whole experience fits in very neatly with the ideals of the Clubs Vocational Services Scholarship as well as the presentation last week by Terry Welsh and the Inspirational Learning Center at the Maryborough District Health Services.

This will be a night not to be missed.

Please encourage your partners, consider guests or even potential future applicants - who are most welcome to attend.  Members are reminded to contact Derrick for catering numbers by midday tomorrow.

Thank you for Bulletin
I would like to say a personal thank you to Geoff James for stepping in and completing the Bulletin for me whilst I enjoyed a 3 week break at Point Lonsdale with my family recently.  With no internet access it was proving to be a difficult task and whilst I could have travelled into Geelong weekly and sat in a McDonalds to access their internet I was extremely appreciative of Geoff's offer and excellent work in doing them for me.
Thank you
