Over a thousand Rotarians from around the world including several from our own club attended the Zone 8 Virtual District Conference last week-end (September 19th - 20th). Participants were treated to some of the best speakers in the Rotary world including International President, Holger Knaack who opened the event on Saturday, and PDG Jessie Harman who closed the event on Sunday. See "Read more..." for a link to watch the conference.
On the Saturday, New Zealand's Stuart Heale, a past Zone 8 Director of Rotary spoke about some of the changes Rotary might consider moving into the future. He said we need to change the way we operate, even if that alienates some more conservative members. He reflected on the possibility that Rotary might do away with the level of Rotary Districts, and conduct more of its business using online platforms like Zoom. He wondered whether clubs might even consider alternating Zoom meetings with regular meetings.

On the Sunday, we heard from Jennifer Jones (pictured left), the 2022-2023 nominee for International President - the first female to take on the role. Also pictured is our District's Jessie Harman (Zone 8 Director in 2021-23) who closed the Conference.
