Last Thursday, Rotarian Frances Clark, CEO of GELC, talked about the Second Wave - of Food. During the Covid crisis, GELC has been providing food for local people in need, but the belief is that the need will become greater once Government assistance finished in September. Then there will be a "Second Wave" of need for support. GELC has certainly been busy. They are cooking and distributing 200 meals a week, along with parcels of staple food products. They were fortunate to receive government funding to employ two workers for six months to assist the process - one chef, and a driver. Asked whether the service needs more financial assistance, Frances said, "Not right now, but almost certainly in September during the Second Wave".
