On August 6th, Maryborough Rotary presented Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) Recognitions to four deserving recipients who have each made a significant contribution to our club. Awards were presented to current President, Alison Teese OAM, PP John Stewart, PP Meryl James, and Immediate Past President, Leigh Williamson.
PDG Anthony Ohlsen introduced the ceremony and reminded members that PHF recognitions were developed by Rotary to acknowledge a gift of US$1000 to the Rotary Foundation, but over the years, a tradition has developed where clubs have also paid the $1000 to the Foundation on behalf of members who had made a significant contribution to their Rotary clubs. It was great to see family members of each recipient in attendance on our Zoom meeting including a number of young grandchildren. We congratulate each of the recipients for their recognition, and also thank PP Derrick and his Foundation Committee for organizing the event. We have some photos taken at homes after the presentations, and there will be more to come next week. A further recognition to a friend of Rotary was to have taken place on Thursday, but that has been postponed until next Thursday.
