Rotarian Esther Waters proposed a toast to the Rotary Club of Munich International. After a flowery description of the elegance and sophistication (and a lock of the oompah-ness), Esther admitted that Munich is her birthplace. A very cosmopolitan city (15% foreigners) with some high profile sons and daughters, one of whom now lives in Talbot, Rotary in Munich has had some low times and some significant events, including the first woman Rotarian in Germany in 1991. The Club formed in 2002, has 74 active members, 39% women; 21% non-German and celebrates its city with scholarships for young musicians. Maryborough Rotarians and guests toasted Munich International Rotary with gusto and no oopah!
